“I believe that all organizing is science fiction - that we are shaping the future we long for and have not yet experienced.”

Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good

Art and Social Change

PST nurtures a culture of access, advocacy, and appreciation for the arts. We utilize theater to create spaces that encourage dialogue about political and social issues. We are creating art of radical resistance and honoring the stories of our communities.

Collective Power

PST’s community impact has grown by creating in and with our communities. We recognize the collective power of artists, arts leaders, intergenerational audiences, and community residents to activate systemic change through the arts. We know that our liberation is bound up with yours.

Equity

PST works to dismantle systemic hierarchies like white supremacy culture, capitalism, and patriarchy in order to build a more just and equitable future. We invest in BIPOC and women co-leadership, in our artists, and in our communities. Wepa!

Transparency

PST prioritizes systems within our organization that amplify transparency like co-leadership, community agreements, and audience/partner feedback to be held accountable. We embrace vulnerable conversations to learn how to improve and grow.

Cross-Cultural Experiences

We are committed to centering the intersectionality of our identities through productions, programs, and discussions. We prioritize sharing the narratives of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, women, immigrants, refugees, the LGBTQ+, and disabled communities. We know that preserving and uplifting cross-cultural experiences is vital to our multicultural society.

 Wellness

At PST, we value people over profit. That means we find agency outside of harmful work cultures to create and elevate systems wellness through retreats, child-care stipends, accessible hybrid working models, prioritized time off, and trauma-informed practices. Prioritizing mental and physical wellness is a domino effect; when we take care of ourselves, we can take care of our homes, our communities, and our environment.
