In 2012, Gabriela Sanchez had a big dream to start a theater company that represented people so often left out of theater. She was fed up with the theater industry overlooking people whose experiences went unshared, people whose stories went untold - people like herself.
So she waltzed up to fellow Temple theatre student, Erlina Ortiz, and asked, “I’m starting a multicultural theater company, do you want to join?”
Erlina said, “yes!” and so…
Power Street Theatre was born!
So, what’s our birthday wish?
We wish for a world that values art & culture and the people within it. We want sustainability and equity in our profession, all while staying true to our values. Ultimately, our greatest birthday wish is to exceed our goal of raising $10,000 in 10 days for 10 years of Power Street Theatre’s mission of art for social change.
Here are the 3 ways to make our birthday wish come true.
1. Donate through our Wedidit campaign link.
2. Send a check! Please make payable to:
Power Street Theatre of Culture Trust
1315 Walnut St. Suite 320 Philadelphia PA, 19107
3. Join us to celebrate our 10th Birthday at our Sunday Soul Open Mic on Sunday, March 19th,
2-5pm at Meyer Brewing Company (436 E Girard Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125). RSVP HERE!
This is a tax-deductible donation, so it's a win-win for all of us!!
What your donation will fund?
What we need help with the most is the general operation.
General operating funds are woefully underfunded, especially for organizations like PST that operate under non-traditional structures. By signing up for a recurring monthly donation you’ll be part of ensuring PST’s sustainability for 10 more years!
Will you help us reach our goal? $10, $100, or $1000 - no amount is too small!
Power Street Theatre is sponsored by;
PST is fiscally sponsored by the Culture Trust of Greater Philadelphia.
